 Vintage Israeli Brass Candy Dish

Pal-Bell covered candy dish (catalogue no #318 - "Ruth"): this hand-finished cast brass candy bowl with hinged cover and dark green patina (The image suggests a blacker hue than the actual color.) exemplifies the attractive metal pieces produced by the Israeli company Pal-Bell during the 50's. The cover is embossed with an image of Ruth harvesting wheat and around the lid is a decoration of grape laden vines. Some of the underlying brass was allowed to peek through the patina forming highlights in the image. The bowl is in good condition with a few minor dents, scratches and patina loss. Stamped on the bottom surface are the company logo, "made in Israel" in both Hebrew and English, and the number 220.

diameter - 5 3/8"; height - 2 1/8"

Price: $380.00

 Fused Glass/Aluminum Tzedakah Box - Jacob's Ladder

A fused glass plate decorates the front of this aluminum tzedakah box. The removable cover, with tzedakah in metal letters, is also made of fused glass and is topped with a spherical glass knob. The Israeli born artist, Tamara Baskin, writes of this piece, "During his journey, Jacob stopped to rest. That night he had a dream of a Ladder going from the ground to the Heavens. At the top of the Ladder stood the Lord and told Jacob that the Land here would be his". Since these tzedakah boxes are hand made, each piece differs slightly and the one you receive may not be identical to that shown here.

height - 3 1/2"; width - 3"; depth - 3"
